Overall opinion: Good movie. If you like action movies you will probably like it.
Based on my presumptions of the movie, I was pretty indifferent about it beforehand. It's based on a comic book I've never heard of, and I was expecting it to be kind of like a dick tracey detective movie. I was quite wrong.
The movie follows three (four, if you count the 3 minute intro,) story arcs which very slightly overlap. They mainly just occur in the same places at slightly different times. The stories were alright, but not really the best part of the movie for me.
I liked the effects they did using black and white. If the scene was dark, then blood would appear white and such. I think they did it to give the movie a comic book feel. Not being a comic reader I can't say if they did a good job, but I felt it complimented the movie well.
The action was pretty good. Very graphic and gorey. Sometimes slightly unrealistic, but not overly so (ie in the movie at one point one character slammed another's head into a brick wall and it broke the bricks.) There was only one scene that I thought was a bit much...(I'll put it in the spoilers section in case you people don't want anything spoiled.)
In this movie, there's not really a good guy and a bad guy, mainly it's just a bad guy against worse guy, so the bad guy becomes the good guy by default. I think they could've done more with the fact that none of the characters were exactly good, but that's a minor quibble.
The movie went out of it's way to be disturbing. I'll put some examples in the spoiler section. I probably laughed more than I should have during this movie.

The action part that I thought was a bit much was that there was a scene where it was one guy with a hand axe versus like ten guys with guns. Guy with axe wins. I've come to accept that in movies, good guys have some sort of godly protection that makes them harder to shoot than bad guys, but that's a little much.
One part of the movie involves this one cannible kid who mounts the heads of victims on the wall. One of the main character's friends gets kidnapped and then tells the main character how the cannible made her watch him as he ate her hand. The whole movie is made up of junk like that happening.
In another part of the movie, one guy rips another guy's genitals off. It showed the guy holding the parts in his hand. I laughed at that part.
In this movie, there's not really a happily ever after for any of the arcs. Mainy it was a prevent the bad guys from winning, but good guys don't really win either kind of thing. I think it worked out well with the theme of the movie.
