For this version of TttP, I was wanting to have a character from the east and the west. So far, I have three races in concept for these regions. Currently none of them have names.
First one is for the west. They largely appear human, except they are covered in bluish green subtle fish scales that look like normal skin when not examined up close. They have gills behind and slightly below their ears, so they can breath water as well as air. Their fingers and toes are webbed to allow them to swim better. They wear form fitting clothing that doesn't restrict their movement to allow them to swim easier. Naturally, their diet consists primarily of fish. Their cities are massive structures that float on water. Most of their city is on the underside of these constructs, while the parts above water is used primarily for trading and meeting with other races. These cities have capabilities to travel, though most are anchored in preferred locations. Their race is ruled by a council. They have an emporer, but he holds very little power, only making decisions when the council is split on an issue.
Next is a humanoid fox race. They live in the forests of the northern portion of the eastern lands. They can see well in dim light to allow them to get around underground. The race as a whole is very agile, though compared to an average human, somewhat weak. They live in cities carved out from the earth. The entrances to these cities are intentionally tiny and difficult to find to allow them to hide the entrances in times of danger. Their diet consists of animals hunted from the forest and plants they forage. This race watches the forest's ecosystem very intently in order to make sure that their harvesting does not strip the land to ensure that there will be food next year. They hold great reverence to those who are magically inclined; believing that having great magical talent is a sign of great wisdom. The people choose from the most powerful mystics to be appointed the role of Grand Seer. This position is voluntary and whoever is chosen for this role can resign whenever they choose.
The last race is your average human. They live in the plains of the southern vicinity of the east. They cultivate the land and grow food as well as raise livestock. Regions of the land are divided amongst the lords and ladies who govern over them while a king reigns over the human territory. The king's rule is unquestioned, and he can strip a lord of his lands and titles on whim. Nobles attend the king frequently in an attempt to gain favor in order to gain influence. The nobles are treacherous and will do anything within their power to undermine the competition.
